SUMMARY :
In 1526, there was a war that nobody knew about in their history books. A war between Man and Beast. A war that would last forever.

Malia lived among one of the Chickasaw tribes in the fertile land of what would later become the states of Arkansas and Louisiana, where her people had to fight to survive against the Crescent wolf pact that ruled the night. Her people were being slaughtered by the number and there was nothing that they could do to stop the wolves.

Her father and chief, Tah Aki, knew that they had to do something before they were wiped out completely, so he went to his wife, a powerful shaman. And Alma knew of only one way to save their tribe from dying out. With her powers, she preformed a ritual on her seven children, bestowing them with gifts of great immortality and strength that would allow their people to win their war.

The seven children changed that night, created for a single purpose: to kill the werewolves. In their new form, with talons, golden eyes and sharp fangs ready for the kill, their tribe did win the war, slaying every last Crescent wolf ⎯⎯ or so they thought, for little did they know that the Crescent wolves had survived that night.

Over time, more and more wolves were born into the world, and as they kept killing every last beast, the children of Tah Aki and Alma were named Wendigos, creatures of evil born to devour. And they would not rest until every last wolf has been killed. And so, the last thing Malia expected was to fall in love with a werewolf half-breed.

ADDITIONAL NOTES :
─ Before we get to the plot, yes, I am well aware that Tristin Mays is already in The Vampire Diaries. But considering her role is small and insignificant, I decided to cast her in The Originals as Malia.

─ Malia is the main character of this book, but her siblings will play a part in this story. However, as Klaus' love interest, she will be the main POV you read from. Also, she and Klaus are a medium burn. They don't get together until the end of season two.

─ The story opens with Malia living in New Orleans pre-season one. It's her home and where her tribe once lived. She, out of all her family, has been the one to remain on the land the longest.

─ Malia knows Marcel. Her family and Marcel have an agreement when it comes to New Orleans. As long as the Wendigos help keep the werewolves under control (they betrayed Marcel, so he banished them) they are free to live in New Orleans for as long as they want since it was once their home and they're good people.

─ At the start of season one, the only person from her family in New Orleans is Riyan. Out of all her siblings, she is closest with Riyan. They usually travel together and have been in New Orleans for the past three decades. Her siblings will come into the picture later on.

─ Malia and Riyan won't like Hayley, at least not at first, considering their past grievance with the Crescent Pack. But since Hayley is pregnant with a miracle baby, they decide to let her live, as they don't kill children and Hayley hasn't done anything wrong. They'll eventually warm up and grow to care for Hayley after Klaus takes the Compound.

─ Malia and Riyan are loyal to Marcel, but they also know how powerful the Originals are. Near the end of season one, they, like Marcel, will save Hope.

─ The age of the siblings go as followed: Odina (35), Dakota (33), Riyan (30), Malia (28), Enola (25) and, lastly, the twins, Misha and Shae (15). There was also another daughter, Ivona, who was 13 at the time of her death in 1526. Ivona was killed by a werewolf and member of the Crescent Pack.

─ They don't have a surname, but over the years they adopted one. You can decide what it is, just make sure it is of Native American.

─ Malia and her family have met the Mikaelson's before, but they're aren't good friends or anything like that. They're just mutual immortals that live on the same planet.

─ Malia and her family are nothing like the Mikaelson's. They don't shun or hurt each other and instead they love and keep peace with each other all the time. They can speak many languages, but the ones they speak the most are English and Muskogean, which was their tribal tongue.

─ The term Wendigo means "evil that devours," but they are anything but evil. They choose to only ever kill werewolves (normally if they do something wrong and are out of control) and are naturally very kind people because kindness was the way of their tribe.

─ Their physical appearance as a Wendigo (which they can take on whenever they want) are long razer-sharp talons, yellow eyes, and sharp fangs full of poisonous venom fatal to only werewolves.

─ Wendigos thirst for blood, but they normally only have to feed on the three days of the full moon when their strength and appetite are at their greatest. However, unlike vampires, they do NOT have mind compulsion so they usually end up killing their victims. Because they hate killing humans, they normally only kill werewolves to quench their thirst.

─ Abilities of a Wendigo :
• Voice Mimicry - Wendigos can imitate the voices of humans to lure unsuspecting victims. This comes handy to lure out werewolves by mimicking the voice of their loved one.
• Sensing - Wendigos have the ability to sense other supernatural creatures so they can easily pinpoint the location of a werewolf.
• Venom - Wendigos have toxic venom, though it is only fatal to a werewolf.
• Immortality - Wendigos can live forever. However, unlike vampires, they aren't "dead" because they were created differently. Though, much like vampires, they do ressurect with each death.
• Super Healing - Wendigos have the ability the heal very quickly.
• Super Speed - Wendigos possess inhuman speed, enough to move from one place to another in seconds. Wendigos are arguably one of the fastest supernatural creatures alive.
• Superhuman Strength - Wendigos are incredibly strong, even by supernatural terms, they can tear humans limb from limb, snap necks and carry two people at once and even drag them up a tree with ease. They are considered to be equivalent to the original vampires.
• Superhuman Agility - Wendigos can jump from tree to tree without being deterred by the foliage.
• Invulnerability - Wendigos are invulnerable to (albeit irritated by) normal knives and guns.
• Claws - Wendigos have giant claws, which they use to hunt or to attack their natural enemy and rip them to shreds.
• Super Senses - Wendigos possess enhanced senses, making them perfect hunters, they can see perfectly in darkness, and have similarly enhanced hearing.
• Super Stamina - Wendigos possess stamina superior to that of humans, and tire less easily.

─ Weaknesses of a Wendigo :
• Fire - One of the known ways to kill a Wendigo is to burn them to death. Wendigos are so sensitive to heat, they will even shun potential prey that they find sitting before an open flame.

• Anasazi symbols - Special Anasazi symbols, usually drawn in protective circles, will keep a Wendigo away. The symbols burns their skin, similar to vervain with a vampire. Some people who believe in them will even tattoo an Anasazi symbol on their skin so a Wendigo won't kill them. The symbols were created by the Shamans using their own language and magic to create them as a form of protection spell. (Picture above are the Anasazi symbols that can weaken a Wendigo.)
• Shaman Magic - Wendigos can be trapped, stopped and killed by magic only casted by a Native American shaman because a Native American shaman is what created them. However, natural magic from any witch can still bring them harm.

─ You can only become a Wendigo by being scratched under a full moon when a Wendigo is at its strongest point and is able to pass on their curse. Then, on the next full moon, the person who was scratched will be able to shift into a Wendigo for the first, make their first kill and gain all the abilities of a Wendigo. Malia and her family choose who they turn very carefully.
